Mimo2+ monitoring a wired magnetic door switch

Mimo2+ monitoring a wired magnetic door switch

Post by jenwill1 »

Greetings,

I have wired magnetic contact switches (Honeywell 951WG) in all my doors in a new build that all come to a central AV closet. I have never take the next step with a traditional alarm. I use a combination of Indigo/SecuritySpy and HomeKit to monitor the house. I use mainly motion sensors and cameras.

I am trying to incorporate the door sensors into the scheme and bought a Mimo2+. I included the Mimo, wired the same type door sensor the the SIG1/GND leads and looked for a state change in Indigo. No changes observed but I noticed the LED on SIG1 is off when the magnet is in proximity and turns green when I move the magnet away.

I know I need to set the threshold parameters and mode to trigger the state change in Indigo but not sure how to go about what the levels should be and mode.

Thanks ahead for any help

I managed to get the analog values to come across but cannot get the binary input to switch states.

The values I am seeing are 7-9 with magnet contact and 3065-3070 without. I am triggering outside of thresholds with Low - 1000 and High - 3500 which doesn't make sense but I get both values this way.

Thanks

I use several of the MIMO2+ devices with my Indigo installations.

When used for a binary input as an ON/OFF condition I was never able to make the Indigo Binary Inputs function. Believe me I tried. All sorts of Threshold values. No luck. I gave up.

Instead I monitor the analog value and I have triggers that set a variable based on the analog value.

For example, I have a ball valve that I turn on or off using an output relay of the MIMO device. The valve in turn has 2 limit switches, one which indicates the valve is fully open and one which indicates the valve is fully closed. Those limit switches are connected to the 2 inputs on the MIMO.

Screenshots of my MIMO Indigo settings and my triggers for the Valve Closed Limit Switch are attached. When a LS is closed the analog value is about 1. When it is open the analog value is about 2900.

If someone has made the Indigo Binary Inputs function properly I would love to hear how.

You mentioned using this for an alarm system. I have programmed indigo as a fully functional alarm system. At my current residence I have numerous z-wave devices as part of my alarm system: 9 contact sensors, 3 keypads, 27 motion sensors, 2 sirens, a smart plug for an entry beeper, and 4 tilt sensors. I also have 7 timers, 116 triggers, 15 action groups and 1 very busy control page. I have a system that does EXACTLY what I want it to do and I don't rely on any manufacturers or suppliers or installers of alarm systems. In the words of Old Blue Eyes ... I did it my way.

Thanks for the reply. That's a good alternative to the binary inputs. I think the Mimolite has a Parameter 8 that may do it that is not on the Mimo2+ for some reason. I sent a support note to Fortrezz as well so let's see if they come up with anything.

You have quite the setup! Fully utilizing Indigo... I have combined Lutron/homekit/SecuritySpy/Indigo on mine. Last step was dealing with the hardwired door sensors/switches. Still thinking about what to do, Lyric with wired/wireless conversion or Mimo's. I have 8 wired doors...

Thanks,

Will
