Refugee from Vera - no, 4 Veras!

Halfway into the trial and already I'm hugely impressed with my Indigo setup.

I'm using a Mac Mini with an Aeotec Z-stick Gen 5 and my first issue was how to control 2 Veras with it. One of them is on a subnet 50m from my house and wired to a router acting as a bridge. The problem was how to get two Vera plugins to work simultaneously.

An email to Jay produced a response overnight, (I'm in the UK), and a workaround was suggested by editing the .plist file to show a "Vera 2" plugin. This works just fine and I am now controlling all devices through 2 Veras and can gradually re-install them into my Z-Stick as time permits. I think of the requests made in the past to MCV support (usually about adding info for new Fibaro products) and the time spent waiting for a result.

I now even have the Fibaro FGPB101 (Button) working with all its options - the first time since I bought it 18 months ago.

Goodbye Vera, it's been fun and frustrating. Jay, you'll get my order in a day or two!

I made the same jump in July 2016. My only regret is that I didn't jump years ago!

Did you happen to find Indigo via discussion on Reddit? Your use case sounds kinda like a guy I discussed with there.

SmartThings refugee, so happy to be on Indigo. Monterey on a base M1 Mini w/Harmony Hub, Hue, DomoPad, Dynamic URL, Device Extensions, HomeKitLink, Grafana, Plex, uniFAP, Fantastic Weather, Nanoleaf, LED Simple Effects, Bond Home, Camect.

Out of interest any reason why you needed 4 Veras? Big house or thick walls or just some limit to the amount of devices you can have?

Re: Refugee from Vera - no, 4 Veras!

Never had a discussion with anybody else about this - sorry!

Why 4 Veras? Three houses (First World problem).

I started off Beta testing for Insteon back in about 2009. What worked at the start turned out to be a disaster as they gradually modified the hub (I'm in France with this one) and I can only get things to work via the wiring and not RF, even if the distance is only about 4m.

So I bought a Vera, and then another etc.

Now I have 2 x Vera Lite
1 x Vera Plus
1 x Vera Edge

Trying to get new Fibaro stuff to work is what tipped me over the edge. Anyone want to buy Veras in good nick (form an orderly queue)!

Jay need not worry.. he’s my adopted brother. Like those marvel movies.. I’m Thor.. he’s Loki.

Ok perhaps I’m Loki. I’m so much more fun than Jay ;)
