Re: Irrigation caddy

And it's available internationally though shipping is probably a bear (don't see a list of international resellers on their site). All in all, looks quite nice.

Re: Irrigation caddy

Has anyone successfully integrated an evapotranspiration program with this? I have a WeatherTrak system now and it has a very expensive subscription renewal coming up -- since it's not a connected system, now seems like a good time to consider alternatives.

Re: Irrigation caddy

I too am interested in using ETo to control my irrigation. I currently use the EZ-Flora and a home-made set of scripts and plugin to get that functionality. However, Indigo, my Mac, and the Insteon modem are all required for the system to work. Since I may be away from this location for long periods of time I would prefer that the irrigation system be capable of independent operation, with optional adjustment from Indigo (similar to the Indigo internal sprinklerDurationMultiplier).

I asked IrrigationCaddy support if they had support for ETo or a means of adjusting the schedule run-time based on a simple variable. Their answer was no to ETo. Regarding some simple means of adjusting the schedule via the API, the answer was a little vague.

When I wrote:
I also wanted to know if it was possible to “adjust” a schedule (or all schedules) via the API. For example, some percentage of normal. This would be much easier than managing a complete schedule in Indigo. If I have to provide complete control from Indigo, I lose the benefit of having a self-standing irrigation system.

The response was:
Yes it is possible to change anything from the API, from the scheduling to all the settings.

@whizzosoftware After looking over the IrrigationCaddy API for your plugin, do you think it would be possible to setup a basic schedule in the IrrigationCaddy and then use Indigo and the plugin to modify that schedule on-the-fly based on local data, like ETo, weather forecast, etc?

Anyone know if the plugin will work with the new The IrrigationCaddy IC-W1 (IC) WIFI version?

Whizzo: any chance the plugin can be updated to work with the wireless irrigation caddy? I got one and tied the plugin but other than turning the unit off/on none of the other features seem to work. Thank you for all your hard work!

I just received my IrrigationCaddy W1 (IC-W1) yesterday and it appears the plugin will activate programs as well! 8)

What other features are not working for you?

Thanks!!

Any way of adding a stop zone command?

Korey

I honestly haven't tried activating a program yet. I should do that but the statuses don't seem to work/update. That's what I'd use it most for. Rain sensor, program running, which zone, etc. those would be great.

Re: Irrigation caddy - Can't get IC program to execute

I have my Indigo6 now properly “activating” the Irrigation Caddy (IC) application but can’t seem to trigger it to run the program to execute on the Irrigation Device zone sequence.

I have a trigger sequence set to first ACTIVATE SYSTEM and then RUN PROGRAM.

When the trigger is executed it properly does ACTIVATE the Irrigation Caddy Application but does not work with the next ACTION of turning on the program within Irrigation Caddy.

I thought after activating system maybe I needed a delay before attempting to try to run a program on the IC device but not sure that is the issue or how to do that.

The proper needed sequence for the Irrigation Caddy is that you have to logically turn the IC device on first, then select what irrigation zone program sequence to run.

I did see a configuration setting in the plugin to select the Program number to run and I have that correctly set to “1” so I know that’s not my issue. There appears to be more configuration of the device using Indigo6 but can't figure out how to edit the values in Device View mode.

With debug enabled I also see this error : Irrigation Caddy Error Error sending "Run Program" action to Irrigation Caddy (Irrigation Caddy): HTTP Error 404: Not found

Any help would be appreciated

I don't have one, but this type of error:

Makes me think that the API the plugin is calling doesn't exist in the version of the hardware you have. So the problem may be caused by a firmware version difference. I'm not sure if the problem is that your version is older or newer. Regardless, when you directly access the Irrigation Caddy from a Web browser is there a page that shows you the version information?

It would be interesting to compare that version info to what whizzosoftware has.

Re: Irrigation caddy - polling issues?

Fellow Irrigation Caddy users,

I just acquired a new IC-W1 V2 and I'm having some issues related to polling via ethernet (full Wi-Fi polling testing underway). The device consistently hangs (and must be power cycled) after a certain number of polling requests are made via the api. Irrigation Caddy support has not indicated that this is a known issue.

So... Two questions:

1. Is anyone having issues with their Irrigation Caddy becoming unresponsive after a certain amount of time / number of polling requests?
2. How frequently is everyone polling for the current status?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Irrigation caddy

Just an FYI I got an Irrigation Caddy and was messing with the Plugin that was written but found that I wanted more granular control over my zones.

After some sluething and trial and error I was able to work out the right curl command, which I've bound to a server action and variables in Indigo.

The curl command is (for your own edification):

Code: Select all
curl -d 'allowRun=yes&doProgram=1&z1durMin=4&pgmNum=5&runNow=1' http://<YOUR IC ADDRESS>/program.htm

Note the number after the "z" above is the zone number. The duration in minutes is the number after durMin=

To turn off a running zone:

Code: Select all
curl -d 'stop=active' <YOUR IC ADDRESS>/stopSprinklers.htm

Hope this helps others.
