UK Conservatory aircon: Mk II

With reference to my old thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13491

I’m now looking at a new heating/aircon/hvac System for the Conservatory, rather than IR control of what’s there (which we don’t like).

We got Sky Q installed before Christmas and Mum is liking watching in Conservatory when it’s warm.

Having been ill, I’ve had the heat on out there more than normal to create a heat barrier to the cold outside that normally comes through to living room.

So - anyone with UK knowledge/experience used / seen any systems in that I could link to Indigo?

It could be as simple as an on/off switch for a heater/cooler (with local thermostat) but if it’s IP or Zwave Controlled then even better.

Peter

Re: UK Conservatory aircon: Mk II

I suspect it’d help to know the model of aircon unit you have

It’s made by Prem-i-air but couldn’t find actual product 2 years ago, so definitely won’t now.

https://www.prem-i-air.com/homepage.asp ... 06&tl=1095 is the current version of it.

Oh I see you’re planning to replace it. Shame as it’s not that old!

Re: UK Conservatory aircon: Mk II

The remote is a pain and as we discussed in the original thread, sending IR to most aircon brands means packing and sending the whole status in the command, not just desired status.

I’m hoping to leave current one in the low external wall and put a new one up on the high internal wall above doors, and pipe it to outside, if I can find a suitable model.

3 pics of current unit, then 1 of where I fancy the new one going.

Need motorised blinds too ;)

Any reason for keeping both units? Wouldn’t that make automation an absolute nightmare?

Tell me about it!

This is the only Aircon I've come across in my research that, instead of having two/three pipes/conduits between the inside and outside units, is an entire 1-piece unit (3d cube) that slides into a 2 foot square hole through the wall from the front.

So if I remove it, there's a 2 foot howling gale to correctly block up before drilling and mounting the new one, or I've to find one that IS a 3d cube style that fits the current hole without too much packing-in.

Aesthetically if I can get one on that high wall, nobody will "see" it, we won't need to worry about whether there's a chair, table, rubbish bin or Christmas plant in front of it, and I don't need to pay a bricklayer to jump in the prickly hedge where the outside unit currently is!

Ah so the old one just wouldn’t be used anymore.. I see!

So is the new one able to be one of the separate units as described above? (Not that I’d be able to suggest anything that’d fit the bill but useful for others to know :)

Correct! It's not been used for ~12 months, in fact I can't actually find the remote this evening!

I'm conducting research but someone keeps interrupting me... :p

I'm also re-reading the ZXT-120 IR Manual because at £72, that's a cheaper solution than a £1,100 AirCon unit!

Isn’t that what I originally suggested? ;)

Also who keeps interrupting you? *whistles*

Re: UK Conservatory aircon: Mk II

Right, I've ordered Remotec ZXT-120.

I'm much more familiar with both AC IR (which is different to traditional A/V IR) and with Zwave now than I was 2 years ago.

And as a dev I can write a plugin to support the ZXT-120's extra features required for registering custom IR commands if none of the builtin codes work. (The manufacturer isn't listed so it will be trial and error!)

I’ll be interested to see what you think of it. I’m considering getting an aircon unit for the living room and master bedroom this year so I might get one too if you have luck with it.

So nice. I would love to have a room like that.

I came here to drink milk and kick ass....and I've just finished my milk.
