T1800 to Ecobee3

I bought a refurbished Ecobee3 to replace my T1800 which utilizes the add-a-wire option. It's been over 5 years since I installed it.

I would need to use the power extender from the ecobee. Do I simply swap the add-a-wire with the power extender, wire for wire?
