Yes (that's the purpose of the Supported Hardware forums and subforums).

One caveat: Indigo doesn't yet support secure mode, so you should include devices in the normal mode.

That error is for the Group Trigger 3rd party plugin, not Z-Wave...

Z-Stick Plus Gen 5 radio range?

PostPosted: Sat Aug 22, 2015 1:33 pm

I recently replaced my S2 stick with a Gen5 stick. The reception range on the Gen5 stick seems a lot worse - the stick has been with the Mac in the basement of my house, and it can no longer hear from the Multisensor 5 in a room on the second floor, which I used to get regular updates from. Additionally, I picked up a Smart Switch 6 (mostly for the power monitoring feature), and discovered that the Z-Stick couldn't hear from it when it was behind my refrigerator, just above the basement room with the stick (It could transmit to it, though - toggling the SS6 worked, even if Indigo didn't see the ack). Moving it to another outlet about three feet farther from the stick (but not behind a refrigerator) worked fine.

Does this match anyone else's experience? Are there any radio-power settings to adjust? Or could it be defective? I've tried a couple of different physical orientations of the stick, without visible effect.

If anything my reception has gotten better, so don't know. Might be an issue with the stick? Aeotec were supposed to release a tool to check the health of various nodes in June but so far I haven't received an update.

The IMA tool is available on the Aeotec web. Only for Windows though. I haven't tried it, but I got this from their support:

"It does take awhile to run, and it will run tests for each device multiple times before giving you a health notification.

It does not work for battery devices and only powered products.

Testing a single node takes upwards of 1-4 minutes."

Thanks for that Peter. I never checked again on their website as they said they would get in touch. Again like you said it's windows only so I wonder how much can be done with that!

Does anyone know how to find out what the latest firmware version is for the Aeon Labs Z-Stick Plus Gen5 - I can find the download on their site but the text notes do not provide any info concerning. What version is in the download, what versions exist, what changed between versions. Thanks in advance for any help!

I can't see any new firmware for the gen5 stick on their web. Only the IMA tool and drivers. Where do you see it?

On the support page, to be honest I assumed the driver listed under the Gen5 stick was the sticks firmware - I assumed that since down the page they list the drivers for all of the OS's ( they support). I'm also unsure why they list MAC drivers (on the bottom of the page) when up in the top section of the page it says MACs don't need drivers.

I don't have a stick yet I'm just doing some homework before I jump into Z wave with Indigo. I have a lot of z-wave parts from my last HA adventure and at some point I want to repurpose them if possible / practical.

The driver link at the bottom (which, last time we checked, was terribly out of date) is for the Z-Stick Series 2, not the Gen5.

I'm a retired engineer but I'd appreciate being treated like a Millennial. (What are the "3 Thing I need to Know" to make this work?)
I doubt I can simply unplug the old and plug in the new.
The two links Matt posted at the top of the thread are funny but not much help.
Can you post the steps to swap out my old black z-stick with the new one?
(My old black one is still working since getting torqued when the Mac was bumped but the USB connector is loose.)
