Remotes and motion sensors

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has a work-around for motion sensors causing problems with remote dim functions.

Take this for example:
4:10:08 PM, 6/3/04
Received X10 "living motion" off
Received X10 "remote button 01" on
Received X10 "remote button 01" dim by 12
Received X10 "computer motion" on
Received X10 "living motion" on
Received X10 "library motion" off
Received X10 "library motion" dim by 12
Received X10 "living motion" on

The two dim commands were sent by the same button on the remote. Also the numbers don't seem to correspond to anything.

Pressing the dim a few times gives me:
Received X10 "remote button 01" dim by 7
Received X10 "remote button 01" dim by 28
Received X10 "remote button 01" dim by 12
Received X10 "remote button 01" dim by 12

Thanks.

Re: Remotes and motion sensors

Are you referring to this line:

"library motion" dim by 12?

The palm pad type remote controls, when you press a dim command, do not send out a complete X10 address. They just send out the house code and dim/brighten command, like A-Dim-Dim-Dim or A-Brighten.

The problem you are seeing occurs when your motion detectors are on the same house code. If you have a motion detector A5 that fires (A5-On), then A5 is now the active X10 address for house code A. This means that any A-Dim or A-Brighten commands that are sent will be targeted to the motion detector.

To get around this, you can put your motion detectors on a different house code than your remote control. If you are using a X10 transceiver, then you will need a new one for the additional house code.

The dim amount numbers correspond to how many dims/brightens were put on to the power line, which should be related to how long the button on the remote was pressed.

Regards,
Matt
