Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

I'm running 5.1.0 with a 2413U. I can register new devices with Indigo and control them from Indigo without any problem. However when I use the "Manage Links" feature to set up links between new devices I have problem. Links to non iC2 device work just fine. Links to newer iC2 devices do not work. The software claims that the link was made and it appears in the link list for the device but the two devices do not talk to each other.

Tried this with a new iC2 KeyPad link, a new iC2 ApplianceLink and an old non-iC2 SwitchLinc V2 Dimmer.

The link between the dimmer and keyPad works perfectly. The link from the KeyPad to the ApplianceLink does not.

If I remove the links created by Indigo and set them up manually by pushing buttons on the devices it all works just fine. Leads me to believe that there's a bug with how links are created between iC2 devices with the software.

Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

Did you originally define the devices in Indigo before version 5.1? If so, do the Define and Sync process again, then try to use Indigo to create the links.

If it still fails (regardless of if you defined the device pre-5.1), then I would be interested in seeing a copy/paste of the Event Log window showing both the Define and Sync and Indigo remotely programming the links into both modules.

Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

All the iC2 devices were added after upgrading to 5.1. The Dimmer had been previously configured from 3.x on..

After some more digging it seems that the Indigo 2413U is not listed as a controller in the AllicationLink's property page. However I can turn it on and off from Indigo.....

Happy to upload logs, just let me know what and how.

Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

It would be great if you could:

1) Factory reset the KeypadLinc and ApplianceLinc (to make sure the manually created link is erased).

2) Open the Event Log window and clear it.

3) Define and Sync both the KeypadLinc and ApplianceLinc.

4) Use Indigo to remotely add the link between the KeypadLinc and ApplianceLinc (and sync to write the links).

5) Test the link.

6) Re-Sync the links for both the KeypadLinc and ApplianceLinc (this is can see if step #4 worked correctly).

7) Assuming #5 failed, manually add the links between them.

8) Re-Sync the links for both the KeypadLinc and ApplianceLinc (this is so I can compare the working links to the bad links).

9) Copy/paste the Event Log of all the above into a reply for me.

That should give me a clear picture as to what is going on and how the manually written links are different than the Indigo written links. Thanks!

Having similar problem. new 2413u. Syncs with old device. But when I try to sync with appliancelinc, it must see something--appliancelinc gives a buzz--but does not even populate the sync fields.

here's part of the log. it sees 1c.ee.5d, but does not add...looks like a database problem...

Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

Factory reset the AppliancLinc and try again. If that doesn't work then factory reset your PowerLinc.

Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

No dice. 2 Appliancelincs and same thing. Looks like same problem from earlier in this thread.

All my other devices work fine. Further, the PowerLinc must "hear" the Appliancelinc because it beeps when I press the appliancelinc button.

But never shows up in dialog and just shows the following in event log:

PowerLinc Linking - entered discovery linking mode (240 seconds)

Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

The beep doesn't mean that the linking process is working - only that the initial command to enter linking mode worked. There could still be an number of reasons for the failure.

Move your AplianceLinc to the same outlet as your 2413U and try again.

What version of Indigo are you running?

Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

Version 5.1.2.

The PowerLinc buzzes twice. First when Indigo puts it into linking mode.

But it buzzes AGAIN when I push the button on the Appliancelinc to link it. That is, it is clearly getting some message from the appliancelinc.

And I did try same outlet...no dice.

Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

Ok, let's do this:

  1. Hold down the shift & option keys while selecting "Interfaces->INSTEON/X10 Power Line->Configure...
  2. In the resulting dialog, check the box next to "LILO debug Logging" (leave the dialog open)
  3. Switch back to the home window and try the define and sync with the AL again - you'll see a lot of debugging information show up in the Event Log window.
  4. Starting with the first part of the define and sync, copy/paste all the event log lines into an email to indigo DASH support AT perceptiveautomation DOT com.
  5. Switch back to the INSTEON Debugging window and uncheck the "LILo debug logging" checkbox (and close the dialog)

Make sure you include a link to this thread in the email so we know what the log information is about.

Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

I have the same problem, but none of the above ideas solved it. I am trying 3 newly purchased 2456S3 V4.9 (20.B6.16 & 20.B6.9C, i2CS version 42) with Indigo 5.1.6 (I also tried the 6.0 beta) using a PowerLinc 2413U.

Some log info:

Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

Your problem is that the device just isn't responding to the PowerLinc when it asks for information. This is likely because of sporadic signal noise. Check out the signal troubleshooting page for common causes and solutions to signal issues.

Did you move the ApplianceLinc so that the PowerLinc is plugged directly into the ApplianceLinc's pass-through port?

Re: Failed to Establish Link, ApplianceLinc #2456S3, Rev 4.6

Hello All,

I recently purchased a new ApplianceLinc 2456S3 that thought was bad.
After several attempts and hours later this one just wasn't working. My other 15 modules work fine.
Than I realized this ApplianceLinc 2456S3 was a V4.9 and my Powerlinc is a 2414U
Would upgrading from Indigo Pro 4.x resolve this issue or will need to replace the the 2414U with something newer to get the V4.9 module working?

T.I.A.

MacMini 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 16GB DDR3

Unfortunately, you'll need to upgrade both the PowerLinc and Indigo.
