Sorry, had a ton of other things to do before I could get to more trouble shooting.

Since my test install on a new mini works just fine I assume it is some system issue.
I'll run some permissions and disk repair and see if that helps.

A note for anyone installing the Prowl Plugin-v1.1/Growl-v2.0.1 or updating to those versions. The Mac configuration instructions on the Prowl website are wrong. The Prowl plugin is no longer installed in Growl as a Display. It is now an Action. Briefly... In Growl:
  1. Click Displays
  2. In the Display Styles pane (on the left), under Actions, select Prowl
  3. In the API Keys section click Generate
    A web page will open, enter your Prowl username and password. Click Grant an API Key, and then click continue back to the application.
  4. You will now have an entry in the API Keys list and that is all you need to connect Indigo, Growl and Prowl.
