Indigo Responding differently than expected to LightWaveRF

Hi

On Day 5 of Indigo so be gentle with me please....

I'm pressing Button two on my Lightwaverf remote - that I do not have setup in Indigo and it responding as if I pressed Button 3.

Indigo does NOT do this when Button 1 is pressed or Button 4, it does work on Button 3 as described and setup below.

It is driving me crazy trying to understand why this is going wrong.

I have setup a Switch (I thought would be a Remote but can't see how to make that work in Indigo) The JSJSLW100WH

It has 5 On buttons, 5 Off Buttons, A Mood 1 On, and an Everything Off
The Switch is setup as a Device, RFXCOM/LightWave Switch, Name of SwitchMaster Bedroom Mike #3, Device Settings f0ef41 Unicode 3

My understanding of this is that ONLY Button three on the remote will be detected.

Then I created a trigger

Master Bedroom Dim Mike
Device State Changed/ Switch Master Bedroom Mike #3/Command/Becomes Equal to/ On

So If the On Button Three on Mike's Lightwave Remote Control in the Master Bedroom is pressed the following will occur

Condition:-
Always set with No conditions.

Actions:-

Execute Action Group (server Actions)
Master Bed Dim

If press Button 3 On - every thing works OK.

If I press Button 2 On the following occurs - even though I have not set this button up at all - see Screen Grab

Re: Indigo Responding differently than expected to LightWave

Can you attach a screenshot of the device config page please?

Also just FYI it's best to create triggers using the last updated date, because if you press the same button twice without pressing another one it'll ignore it as its already on :)

Computer says no.

Re: Indigo Responding differently than expected to LightWave

Durosity, thanks.

I blew the remote away, took out the battery and have left it on the naughty step for awhile :-)

I added a totally new remote and set that up. It appears to be working properly. I'll test it more thoroughly today.

Is there a better way to set up these remotes other than set up a device for every button pair? On these remotes that could mean setting up 17 devices just for one remote? That is a lot of work. I have over a dozen of these remotes, that could mean over 200 devices just for the remote controls.

Then you have to set up 2 triggers for each button pairs, that would be 400 triggers.

Is there a more efficient way, and I am being dumb here?

Durosity

If I understand you correctly.

"best to create triggers using the last updated date, because if you press the same button twice without pressing another one it'll ignore it as its already on :)"

That will Trap any press of the button pair and then catch the one you are after by putting in a Conditional Command to trap which the two buttons was actually pressed.

I'll give that a try, thanks

Re: Indigo Responding differently than expected to LightWave

Yeah, generally what I do is have it set to trigger on the date change, then a python script to check what changed on the device and what action to perform based on that. If you search the forum there's some posts about it from a few years ago.
