Using another antenna will increase the receive range of the RFXtrx433, for example:

Thanks, I'll have a look at that.

My receiver is in an extension beyond the original exterior walls of the house, which doesn't help - a better antenna plus a longer lead will give me two performance increases.

If it would help with positioning, I am using this USB Active Extension Cable from Amazon... to get the range I needed to my outside sensors I had to run the cable from the office wiring closet to above the carport - it worked perfectly using this cable:

I'm sure there are others, just wanted to give you an example of a known working version...
