I have successfully added my new August Pro as both a z-wave device and an August device using the August Home plugin. I see messages from August Home in my log that indicate when the door is opened and closed, but I don't see that reflected anywhere in the device - is it possible to add that information as a custom device state so I can check it and run triggers against it?
I'm not quite certain what you mean by open and closed, can you elaborate? When the door is locked / unlocked, the state of the device does change. I added the feature where you can link your August device to the Z-Wave device (see the device properties for your August device). What this does is defers the lock state to the Z-wave status, rather than going through the cloud to get the state of the lock. From your log, you are getting updates as you said. Are you referring to the Pro's door sense feature?
EDIT: Upon closer review, I now see what you mean. I had not installed my door sense features on my lock. I will install my door sense feature and update the app to reflect the state and improve the log messages.
Also, I am having issues where the zwave lock is getting out of sync with the actual state of the lock. See the example below - until I manually refreshed the status, the z-wave device was showing unlocked, while the August Home device was (correctly) showing locked:
I also have seen my Z-wave device lock state to be out of sync. I set up a 15 minute schedule that runs a status check to correct this, and this has largely resolved my issue since it rarely occurred anyway. Since you've also reported it, I think we should discuss it with Matt and Jay. Do you see any Z-Wave errors in your logs? I occasionally do, but have not confirmed if they are related to the state being out of sync. I also noticed two other small issues with the Z-wave device that I was planning on bringing to Matt and Jay's attention:
1) the Z-wave August device battery is locked at 100%, but my August app is reporting lower.
2) When Indigo does a battery update check on the lock, it times out, but the response does arrive a second after the timeout message
You can safely ignore the fact that your August device state is correct. If you have linked your lock devices correctly, the August device should defer the lock state to the Z-Wave device. Even if you had a circumstance where the August device was the correct one, I believe be best long term solution for you is to rely on the Z-Wave device for the correct lock state.
