Global Cache Sony Codes

I figured this out a few months ago, but forgot what I did and now I need to add more buttons to my system since I've gotten cable TV again.

I have some actions to send commands to my Sony gear via IR blaster on an iTach.

To select my VIDEO 1 input where my Mac Mini running Plex Media Player, I have an action that calls this on iTach #1 port #3 (the IR blaster):

Code: Select all
<Sony:8 0030/22>
Repeat: 3

and here is the full information from the Global Cache Control Tower that I used to construct that:

Code: Select all
"INPUT VIDEO 1","sendir,1:1,1,40000,1,1,96,24,24,24,48,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,48,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,48,24,48,24,24,24,24,878","0000 0067 0000 0010 0060 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 036E",,

I do not remember what part of it I copied and pasted into the Cynical Cache plugin to have it translate to the <Sony:8 0030/22> code.

I need to do the same for the SAT/CATV button:

Code: Select all
"INPUT SAT/CATV","sendir,1:1,1,40000,1,1,96,24,48,24,48,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,24,48,24,48,24,24,24,48,24,48,24,24,24,48,24,24,24,24,672","0000 0067 0000 0015 0060 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 02A0",,

Anyone remember the section required?

Eventually I'll create actions for all the remote control's buttons, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I've gotten the IR codes for my Motorola STB and programmed all the number keys and guide controls into actions, so I can create Indigo Touch buttons/actions to change the channels and so on.

Thanks
Ross

Re: Global Cache Sony Codes

Hi Ross,
Don't know if Sony require any special codes but generally you only need to copy the numbers starting (in your example above) from "0000 onwards. Obviously without the quotes.

Re: Global Cache Sony Codes

Might be a bit late but better late than never!

I also fell victim of memory loss recently when I needed to add new codes for another AV device. So I wrote a set of steps on my notes app. The instructions are for the Mac verson of iLearn which you can download here.

    1) Launch iLearn and connect to the iTach IP2IR
    2) Leave all screen as defaults aside from Save Format (HEX)
    3) To learn new codes without problems you need to put the remote control you want to learn from touching the back of the iTach IP2IR device. The iLearn IR hole is next to the power plug.
    4) Press remote control button you want to learn.
    5) iLearn should beep and show the IR command on the top text box.
    6) Type a name in Button Name (doesn't matter what as button names are not encoded in the HEX format) and click on the Save Data button.
    7) From the results text box copy the IR command starting from the first 4 HEX digits
8 ) You can paste this HEX code directly into an Action Group using a Cynical Cache plugin device, it will get converted to the format you see in Indigo
    9) Connect and disconnect again from the iTach IP2IR to read another IR command. I found it more reliable this way.
