Accessing Leak Watch Variable list

Hi There,

I'm a bit stumped on how to exactly gain access to Leak Watches' variable list (the wet list and overdue list). I can turn on debugging for example and get a dump of heartbeats, but can't figure out how to for example sent out an email with the "wet" and overdue lists.

Re: Accessing Leak Watch Variable list

Trigger on the "Active Leaks" state becoming anything other than an empty string. Or possibly on any change. Then send an email with the contents of that state.

Its not the trigger I have a problem with, its that I want to see which sensor actually is sensing the leak. Need to try and figure out how to access the variable, thats sorta the crux of my first post.

The sensor list is not in a variable, it's a custom state of the device. So to email the current status, you would put the following in the email body. Assuming 123456 is the DeviceID of the Leak Watch device:

Code: Select all
Leak Alert: %%d:123456:wet%%

Re: Accessing Leak Watch Variable list

Once the "wet" state variable is added is there a way to reset it after a leak is detected?

During testing it appears, I need to explicitly clear this variable afterwards and that simply clearing the state of the sensor itself in the UI isn't sufficient to reset this variable?

Re: Accessing Leak Watch Variable list

I think you have to wait for the sensor itself to report that it's dry. For testing, dry it off and wait a while to see if it clears.

And again, it's not an Indigo variable. If you keep trying to treat it like one, you're going to frustrate yourself. It's a state of the device, and the plugin will manage the state.

Re: Accessing Leak Watch Variable list

Makes total sense thats its not an Indigo variable, but it still seems that the wet list never clears itself. Once “wet” always wet, unless I delete the device and create a new one.

I recall there was a discussion on it that you need to reset the device — some button on the device

You never said which leak detectors you have. I have the Insteon ones (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009WXZ0O2/), and there is a button on the top to reset them. I just tested one of mine. The Leak Watch device triggered as soon as I put it on some water. I pulled it out, dried it off, and hit the reset button. The Leak Watch state immediately reset.

Re: Accessing Leak Watch Variable list

I'm finally getting back to this now that the remodel (from the leak) is finally completed. I also have the Insteon sensors.

If I understand what you are saying, once I dry off the contacts and push (or push and hold) the reset button on the sensor, The Leak Detector's device "wet" state should be erased?
