Is there a way to change what other processes use port 8179?

HTTP port 8179 already in use - waiting 15 seconds to try again (will retry 3 more times)

I have HD homerun in use and I would like to be able to keep it installed when I do discovery.

You can specify the port to be used in Edit Device Settings... for each Alexa-Hue Bridge.
The plugin will auto allocate in the range 8178 thru 8200.

So for example you could change it to 8185. :)

Re: Is there a way to change what other processes use port 8

Sorry, maybe I'm a complete idiot here but I keep getting the error regardless of what port I put in.

Code: Select all
Alexa-Hue Bridge Error          Responder startup failed because another app or plugin is using the UPNP port.
Alexa-Hue Bridge Error          Open a terminal window and type 'sudo lsof -i :1900' to see a list of processes that have bound to that port and quit those applications.
Alexa-Hue Bridge Error          StandardError detected in HttpdRequestHandler for device 863499074. Line '140' has error='[Errno 32] Broken pipe'

Code: Select all
COMMAND     PID       USER   FD   TYPE             DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
hdhomerun 91493 _HDHomeRun   13u  IPv4 0xea01ed37d750115d      0t0  UDP *:ssdp

The system will not allow me to kill this process. Additionally, removing the application no longer fixes this issue. I previously was running a eyetv stick and unstalling did remove the process that was tying up the port.

Any help could be appreciated! As always, you don't appreciate something until you don't have it anymore!

Have you tried force quitting the process via the Activity Monitor?

Also, probably best to reload the plugin so it has a fresh start. :)

Yes, tried to force quit but it either never quits or reincarnates instantaneously!

Tried restarting the plugin multiple times. Tried restarting the mac a few times as well.

Take a look at this article on how to disable Apps and process auto-starting: https://www.macworld.com/article/2047747/take-control-of-startup-and-login-items.html

I had to use some the techniques described to stop Tidal auto-starting when my free subscription ran out.

You might want to go into Reeder Mode in Safari to avoid all the ads.

And we're back! Thanks for the link. I was googling like mad several other times looking for something like that but didn't find it. Everything is back up and recognized by the plugin and the app now. Thank you!

That's great news. :D

At least we have had one success so far today - glad you have got it working again. :)
