uniFi AP username / password

It might be obvious for those that have setup their own site controller, but I bought my APs through broadbandbuyer.com in the UK and they host the cloud controller themselves and supply pre provisioned, with themselves as super admin, and myself as admin.
It took me a lot of searching, and frustrated attempts to log on before I found that the relevant password for the plugin is for the Site, as seen in the Settings > Site > Device Authentication at the bottom. Clicking on the dots shows the password.

Hopefully this helps save others some headaches...

On a related setup issue as a new user. I had errors starting straight onto the latest version. Eventually I got a version 1.xx plugin working and then upgraded through a series of them all without issue until I got to the latest. Not sure what was the problem, but all working now.

Re: uniFi AP username / password

Could you share which error occurred when you used the latest version. That is difficult to test for me I hate to delete everything and start from scratch.
E.g. Send me the logfile with error messages.

Re: uniFi AP username / password

Actually, looking back through the logs, I think it was a problem that I downloaded it twice and tried to install the one with the 2 in the name. I then deleted everything and when I started again it installed correctly.

Re: uniFi AP username / password

Yes that would do it. But it should complain about it if the name contains a -.2

Re: uniFi AP username / password

Please do:
Open terminal on the indigo mac
ssh id@192.168.1.123
Enter passwd
If that gives an error you have the wrong uid paaswd
If that works: what is the prompt ?

Re: uniFi AP username / password

i get permission denied, please try again.

I'm stuck because i don't remember setting up a PW for the AP. I just adopted it via the controller. is there a place or way to see what the AP login is?

Thank you.

Same uid and passwd as the UniFi controller.

Re: uniFi AP username / password

when you do it manually in a terminal, does it work there?

No, it gives the password invalid error.

UniFi system is working fine.

Re: uniFi AP username / password

if THAT does not work the plugin CAN NOT work. It does the same.

are you sure about the UID/PASSwd ?

if you like we can do a teamviewer session.

Re: uniFi AP username / password

SUCCESS! at least it loads and populates the devices.

The only thing i changed was changing the username and password in the config/setting/site/device authentication section. my previous password was 28 characters long. I changed it to 8 and it worked, then 18 chars and it works. not sure if this had anything to do with it (pw too long at 28?) or if it was something else to do with the changing of the u/pw.

edit: just changed it back to a 28 char pw and it still works.

anyway, it seems to be loading now. thank you!

Re: uniFi AP username / password

Might not work If you have a space in there. Other characters should be fine.
