Rpi Execute triggers Reboot

Hi

Running version .135
Rpi is hardwired ethernet cable.
Static ip

I only have one Rpi at the moment and have tested the Xy Find V.3.xx have had them placed at far distance for some hours
still "up" which is great. well suddenly they both came down.
saw the rpi was expired for short time maybe 20 sec.

I have seen in the log that when it reboot it is telling it will not set up down for xx sec.
but also to night in the reboot cycle it took both xy down. I had placed the one very near the rpi still the same

this resulted in execute trigger.

is there some settings needed to be done ?

I guess I could run a condition if the rpi is down or expired it will not rune the trigger as long as I only have one rpi.

Is it the best to let the rpi reboot ?

Re: Rpi Execute triggers Reboot

There is a timeout of 90 secs where no up to down happens after a rpi reboots I believe.

Ask have 10 rpi running and there is always at least one rpi up it is diffucult to actually test this.

When I am back in 2 weeks I can test it.

As for reboot needed. No, not actually. It was added early on for testing etc.
if you have ram enable on. Very little gets written to the sd and it should just run.

Could you do some testing:
Switch debug on for Bluetooth and logic in config just before you go to bed. You can send it to a file so that your logfile is not overflowing. And then check around the time when the rpi reboots.

Re: Rpi Execute triggers Reboot

Thanks For fast reply

ok so the Rpi could some time go down for some seconds and up ? (not reboot just expire)

Ram Enable ? do I have to do this in the rpi ssh or in the setup page from indigodomo?

I will try not reboot

And I will try debug as you suggest.

Rpi Execute triggers Reboot

RAM disk is individually for each rpi. So in rpi device edit

The plugin will send the config to the rpi and then the rpi will configure itself. (Program master.pi will do that. It is in ...pi/pibeacon/ on each rpi )

Re: Rpi Execute triggers Reboot

ok found it

Just to be 100% sure I read and understand correct.

if I enable RAM disk it should be less needed for auto Reboot ?

Rpi Execute triggers Reboot

Well it's not straight forward.
Theoretically you don't need to reboot the rpi at all. The plugin just offers that option.
But in general it is good practice to reboot a server once in a while.

As for RAM disk:
Rpi has several temp disks ( in ram)
1. Some system swap
2. User dedicated space rpi uses that for its own logfiles
3. Pibeacon adds another temp space for system logfiles that's the RAM disk mentioned.
+ no writes to the sd ; - no history of system logfiles after reboot . If everything runs smoothly you likely do not need that
4. And some others. You can see them with "df" at the rpi command prompt
Easy question ... complex answer.

I have half of mine (18) in night reboot mode and some with ram disk and some without , just to see if it works. Have not observed any real difference.

And with the feature to show any write to disk failures on the rpi in the indigo logfile you should be ok. If there are any of these messages you should look at the sd .
