Use pibeacon pi for flic button connectivity as well

Pretty much as the title says. Is like to get some flic buttons for use around the house and having heard the Bluetooth range on the Mac is really poor I was planning to use on of my pi's that are currently setup as pibeacons. Would this work, or would it be better to get a USB Bluetooth dongle for the Mac instead?

if they send beacon equivalent signals and you can switch them on/off, yes.

I am using the "xy3beacon" beep button to do this. You need to:
1. register the beacon (automatically) in the plugin.
2. edit the generated ibeacon device and set "fast down option" to ~ 5-10 secs, depending on your environment.

Then you can use the button every 5-10 secs as a switch for on/off/on

Thanks Karl.
Maybe it wasn't so clear a question. I didn't mean use the fic as a beacon. But run a different program on the pi that refceives the Bluetooth signals from the flic. Would having both progresses on the pi using Bluetooth work or would they interfere?

I don't know.
But the pibeacon assumes that it is the only one and starts the BLE stack in its own way. (I.e. Set uuid etc)

I am looking into using parrot flower on one on the rpi. That also uses BLE. Will let you know.
