Tile beacons

1. 2015 Tile beacons work fine with the plugin
2. 2016 Tile ("new") will only work with the plugin when the phone app is NOT running. They stop sending beacon like broadcasts when in range of a Tile phone app.
3. you can replace the Tile battery by forcefully open the plastic box and unsoldering the battery and replacing it with a new battery -- need to solder at very high temp and for a short amount of time attaching a very thin wire and cutting of excess tin.
but the result looks ugly -- I am fine with it but spouses might have a problem with it . 8)
opened Tile with new battery:

I removed some plastic where the solder is on the new battery to give it a bit more space.

Re: Tile beacons

Do the new tiles (Slim and Mate) have the same UUID prefix as the old tiles (01-)?

Re: Tile beacons

No. They have a long one. My wallet UUID is:
01060303edfe05-2388-26988

and I have added that one to the UUID-> name list using the menu

Re: Tile beacons

new battery for old Tiles.

once taken apart you can put them back together with "Liquid Tape".
They look shiny and you can apply various colors and might pass the spouse test

Re: Tile beacons

OK - that makes sense now. I was going crazy looking for the 01 prefix.

At least one of my current v2 tiles has the same UUID as yours. However, I wonder if that is true for all v2 tiles. I have another UUID (011b0bff4c00090603-448-43010) that I think might be the other v2 tile.

Any suggestions on what -dBm should be used for the new tiles? What about the TrackR?

Re: Tile beacons

Put it 1 m away from the rpi
Use that signal number for the TX power

Tile beacons

Actually they send a short package and I make up the uuid out of the bytes going backwards from
the end and assign the bytes that are left
