Getting and authorising a Google Maps API key

You'll need to obtain a Google Maps API key if you're going to get the best out of iFindStuff. The process is easy and free for all users. Google want you to have a Gmail Account with them but you can create one for free if you don't already have one. Just pop to http://www.gmail.comand create an account.

Now you can obtain a key:[list]

Go to: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/static-maps/ and select Get a Key

On the page that opens you'll be asked to Create a Project. Once you've done this you'll be presented with this screen where you can create an API Key. Click on API to the left hand side of the screen.

You'll see that I've already created a couple of keys here but let's create another one:

Click on Add Credentials and then on API Key... You'll be presented with the following options:

and click Create. Your key will be created and displayed.

You can now cut & paste this key into the Configuration field in iFindStuff and you're done.

Authorising your key for distance calculations

First of all you need to go back to the google developers portal where you obtained your API key. This link should take you there if you're logged into Google.

https://console.developers.google.com/project/_/apiui/credential

You should be taken to a dropdown menu but all you need to do is click Continue to be presented with the API screen.

Then you can click on APIs in the menu on the left hand side to be presented with a list of APIs that you can register. We want Maps Distance Matrix.

Finally, Click on Enable API to set it up for iFindStuff. Mine says Disable API in the screenshot but that's because I've already enabled it.

Then click on the back arrow and you're done :D

If you like you could also authorise Directions, Roads and Elevation because I thinking of using those APIs in the coming weeks. All API keys are free to obtain and access.

Now you're ready to take advantage of iFindStuff's features
