Touch App with Cynical SecuritySpy Plugin

I downloaded and installed 1.0.0 of the SecuritySpy plugin from Cynical.
I'm running SecuritySpy 2.1.2.
I set up the server in Indigo which shows the status to be "ready" and installed 2 cameras successfully.
All 3 devices show up in the devices page on my Mac.

However, if I access devices either through the web server access (remote/local web browser) or through the iPhone/Touch app, the SecurityDevices do not show up.
Any have any ideas why? Or how to make them appear?

The plugin doesn't provide live image updates via the Web server. If you want that then create a Control Page with a refreshing image control that points to the SecuritySpy server.

Re: Touch App with Cynical SecuritySpy Plugin

I'm not actually looking for live video.
My device list does not show the cameras or server even existing through web access or Touch App access.
They do all show up fine on Indigo's device list running on the mac.

Correct. Custom plugin device types currently cannot show UI from Indigo Touch (plugins that define relay/dimmer/thermostat device types will show, however). This might change at some point, but it is going to require a major rev of Indigo Touch.

Re: Touch App with Cynical SecuritySpy Plugin

You can create whatever controls you need for plugin devices by creating custom control pages that show custom device states and execute plugin actions however.

Re: Touch App with Cynical SecuritySpy Plugin

I guess that can work.
Thanks for confirming it works as expected, albeit disappointingly ;-)

Re: Touch App with Cynical SecuritySpy Plugin

I am not sure what you were hoping to see... But, if it is just an On/Off state, there may be a (somewhat indirect) solution. The Meta Device plugin will let you create an Indigo device with a visible On/Off state and this device will appear in the Indigo-Touch app. You would need to create the Meta device and then create two triggers (or a script) that will turn the Meta device On/Off based on state changes in your Cynical Security custom device.

Since the Meta device can be turned on and off in the UI, you could attach actions to it as well (that is in the Meta device config pane). Those actions might enable your security equipment, camera or?

Re: Touch App with Cynical SecuritySpy Plugin

Good point.
I guess there is no point in listing it in the device list if there is no concept of an on/off status to view.
Thanks
