FINGSCAN - discussion

Which version are you using ? I had introduced this bug , but was fixed several releases ago...
check out this download thread http://forums.indigodomo.com/viewtopic.php?f=166&t=12787
This version (4.13.3) posted there should not have the bug: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2vrw6gfwu3e19gr/FINGSCAN-4-13-3.zip?dl=0

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

Could you open a terminal window and type
sudo fing

Then enter your password and check if you see errors or some output. You stop it with ctrl c

Then if ok check file fing.data

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

As for documents/fing/fing.data could you post it including date stamp. And also the last 30 lines of documents/fing/fing.log.

the ing.data should have lines like:
172.20.0.28;;up;2015/08/06 16:30:43;;00:15:AF:D8:50:51;AzureWave Technologies

and fing.log:
2015/08/06 16:34:53;changed;172.20.9.75;;;E0:B5:2D:1E:2C:8D;

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

First off thanks for the help-- I think things are resolved. I made two changes to the wireless network. 1. I had the selection checked in AirPort utility to have a different name on the 5 Ghz spectrum. I removed that checkmark. 2. I had forgotten about a TP Link repeater I was using to spread wireless outside. The repeater was likely what was introducing different MAC addresses into the network, not the randomized MAC address I had suspected.

I will eventually add an additional AirPort Express for coverage outside-- As it is now, if i'm in the garden more than 20 minutes (away from wifi) Fingscan will execute the "Away" event.

Now that things have calmed down on my network and Fingscan seems to be working perfectly (the problems were mine, as usual) -- What time has been working for others in the "Minutes before AWAY status can trigger" in the Configure Fingscan menu? The two phones in the household are an iPhone 5S and an iPhone 6plus, both running the newest software (iOS 8.4).

Thanks again for your help in troubleshooting.

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

without ASUS WiFi info (with ASUS makes it better, ASUS WiFi info essentially not loose the Wifi connect info) for an iphone 6+ it was 20 minutes for me when not connected to power supply.

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

Also I noticed I renamed a device (Mac Server) yesterday from the default MAC-XX: number and today it is called iPhone-xyz. Yesterday the iPhone-xyz was a Airport Express.

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

Sharek326 :

At what time did you run it? (to compare the time stamps in the file with the creation of the .log and .data file)
please post the whole log file section with FINGSCAN starting with the version number until the first FINGSCAN ERROR line with the date stamps in the indigo log before and after

This "error message" occurs when the timestamp of the .DATA and .LOG files have not changed for 280 seconds (at least one must change every 60 seconds in normal situations if fing is running normally)

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

the logs seem to be from different time periods?

could you do this again:

1. disable fingscan
2. enable fingscan
3. after ~5 minutes (after the first fingscan error message) disable fingscan
4. post fing.log(last ~50 lines) and fing.data
5. post the INDIGO log from first line with fingscan until the first fingscan error
you can (should) delete the lines that do not have fingscan from the log before posting.

sorry for the confusion.

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

looking at your fing.data and the previous find.log file:

you have also a device with 1 MAC number and 2 IP numbers
2015/08/06 06:52:51;up;192.168.1.83;;;D4:21:22:A8:8B:05;
and with 192.168.1.1

and 2 devices outside the class c range
192.168.0.239;;up;;;04:A1:51:6B:6A:37;
192.168.81.1;;up;;;D4:21:22:A8:8B:05;

is this on purpose?

Re: FINGSCAN - discussion

I saw a few of those devices outside the class range and have no clue what they are I was actually debating not doing DHCP and manually setting everything up... I will upload the logs now
