my modem went bust, have to wait until Monday to get a replacement.

Here the setup i like to try

- connect iPhone to mac, with usb cable
- on mac use usb for internet , works
- also connect ethernet to mac, delete the router info on the ethernet connection

==> then i can browse the internet and connect to other devices on LAN with THAT mac

What I can not do is: connect to internet on other LAN devices.

I can connect to the MAC from other devices, but routing to the internet does not work..
I tried the MAC as roter and the IP number of the iPhone, both do not work

Any idea, hint I could try?

Your Mac IP as router/gateway on your other devices is the correct networking concept.

Possibly same for DNS on your other devices if they’re currently pointing at your dead router; if they’re pointing publicly then not necessary.

I don’t know the Mac side of it, whether you need to allow sharing or suchlike.

System Preferences --> Sharing --> Internet Sharing

This doesn't work?

No

I need to set the router info on the other devices.
