new plugin input request

As I am kind of done with my current plugins I am looking for a new "thing" to do.

Any suggestions?

Karl

Just introduce Karl and your wife to each other, and ask Karl to keep her occupied whilst you get your plugins finished...

for the ikettle: could you not just use a zwave switch to switch it on .. and it is in Celsius - no alcohol scale involved.

Re: new plugin input request

have ordered raspberry pi seismograph - kickstarter project .
Don't know if there is any advantage of integrating it. We had a lot of earthquakes in Dallas when fracking was at its peak.. thanks to low oil prices no earthquake for some month now.. :P

Write it for you first. That's what I do, I know several of my plugins are used by maybe one or two people plus me, but in all honesty I wrote them for me first and if other folks find interest then awesome, but I get what I want out of the deal. If having that [kinda cool] seismograph is something you want then go for it.

Well it's slightly more fancy than that.. it can be set at different °C and can report how full the kettle is. Someone's already worked out ways to send commands to it but I'd love to be able to get current status, water level, etc for triggers. Why you ask? Because I'm exceptionally lazy.

Karl,
How about a plugin for my iWife. I'd love to be able to control that

You can't write that one for many reasons but the big one is that her iHusband already is more powerful and gets updated on a minute-by-minute basis.

Yeah, that reminds me of a feature request I forgot to mention: the plugin should allow the device to receive commands only, no transmitting allowed. And the ability to shut off "debugging" mode would be nice, but I think that's built into the firmware.

Re: new plugin input request

Durosity,

Firstly happy birthday.

Secondly, have you tried the commands on the thread you mentioned?

I fancy having a go at the iKettle Plugin, but only if Karl isn't.

I'd be using the cynical stuff mentioned in the thread for the comms, then I'd provide UI state and triggers based on the incoming variable.
