Does Indigo support new Z-Wave 500 chipset Yale locks?

Does anyone know if Indigo supports the new Yale Z-Wave locks that use the Z-Wave 500 chipset? The benefits of the 500 chipset over the old 300 chipset seem to include: 50% greater range, 250% quicker data rate, 400% more on-chip memory, etc. (See details: http://aeotec.com/z-wave-500-series-module-chip.)

I only see the Yale locks YRL210, 220, and 240 on Indigo's list of supported devices. The new Yale locks supporting the Z-Wave 500 chipset are YRD246 and YRD446.

I've been emailing with Yale, and this is what they told me:

The YRD120 T1L or YRD110 B1L... both come with an integrated Z-Wave radio. The rest of the locks use a Z-Wave plug-in module.

The locks all meet ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 requirements for residential locks.

The YRD246 and YRD446 can hold up 250 USERS and 500 history events when integrated with a controller the YRD120 on holds 100 users and 100 history events.

The YRD246 and YRD446 both have voice assisted programming, the YRD120 does not.

The YRD246 and YRD446 both use the new Z-Wave 500 Plus RF Module the YRD120 uses the Z-Wave 300 Series radio

Those are the major differences.

Re: Does Indigo support new Z-Wave 500 chipset Yale locks?

We won't know for sure until someone actually tries them, but I don't see any reason they shouldn't. The Z-Wave 500 chipset's marketing name is Z-Wave Gen5, and we haven't found any Gen5 devices that don't work with Indigo 7. The inclusion process for locks is finicky for some locks, but that's generally not because of Indigo but rather the network or the peculiarities of the device itself. If one doesn't work, we'll definitely work with you to figure out the problem.

Jay: Thanks! I guess the answer is to try it and figure it out and post the results. :)

Does anyone know what the difference is between the YRD246 and YRD446 deadbolts? Is it that both have Z-Wave but only one has Bluetooth as well? (Their site really is inscrutable...)

BTW this is what Yale told me about the difference:

The YRD446 also has BLE built in so you can also use your phone as a credential in addition to the keypad
