Cloudflare tunnels = no more VPN

After changing my broadband to fibre my new ISP is changing the WAN IP on me regularly so I had to start looking at DDNS and as Cloudflare host my Name Servers I thought I would look there. There are some ways to update a domain via API and I was wondering if I could use that and Indigo and the Online plugin.

However then I found their zero trust tunnels.

Now running a small service via Brew on my Mac Server and some setup on Cloudflare, all for free, I now can use their Warp/1111 iOS app replacement called Cloudflare One, enable the VPN when outside home network and their DNS servers route any calls to my local network addresses, ie 192.168.0.25 to my home network with no need to manage the changing WAN IP.

Tested with connecting to device webpages ie NAS and zigbee2mqtt as well as Splashtop in free mode, so that saw that my devices were on the same local network as my phone for remote desktop.

Simpler than dynamic DNS (once setup) and I am assuming as its zero trust and Cloudflare, a lot more secure and all for free.

Re: Cloudflare tunnels = no more VPN

I got rid of all my port forwards by enabling multiple cloudflare tunnels. I have it running on an rPi along with my UniFi controller and pi-hole.

I assumed many people must be using it but couldnt see reference.

Why do you use multiple tunnels. I thought only one needed per network, and I can access multiple devices on my network from the one.

I also have pihole running for local devices and was wondering if worth installing the Warp client on my Macs?

Cloudflare tunnels = no more VPN

One tunnel process. Multiple apps defined in Cloudflare pointing to different servers or apps within the lan.

Ah ok. Yes I started doing that then realised I can just point to 192.168.0.0/24 and use any ip address.
