Oopsie..

So I just managed to make a rather large whoopsie. I was updating a VM to Sonoma to test something...... except.. I didn't realise that actually I was updating the wrong system... my production Indigo system.

The good news is that actually so far.. everything is working.. but this coulda (and could still be) a major headache. Learn from my mistakes kids, check where you're installing things before committing.

Well following on from that, here's a QA report on a bit of an issue:

Behaviour:
Upgrading plugin results in error

Steps to recreate:
Download newer version of plugin
Double click to install -> Accept upgrade and enable message

Current result:
Error appears in log
Code: Select all
4 Aug 2023 at 15:26:20
Upgrading plugin Plex Media Server Manager to newer version 2.3.5 (previous version moved to trash)
Error                           ReloadPlugin() caught exception: FileIOError -- rename/move of file or folder failed -- check file/folder permissions

and Plugin disappears from Plugin Menu.

Expected result:
Updates plugin.

Workaround:
Disable plugin -> delete from disabled plugins folder -> Replace with new version of plugin -> re-enable.

Hope this helps :)

Re: Oopsie..

I’m detecting an incoming Jay advising to re-run Indigo installer to reset permissions?

Re: Oopsie..

Possibly.. although then I’ll be able to retort with a “aha! I’ve already done that!”

I’m thinking this may be related to iCloud Drive.. I’ve gotta test a couple more permutations but I think when I run it from a “local” folder it works fine.

Anyone else taken the Sonoma plunge yet? Any other problems identified?

Re: Oopsie..

So far other than the permissions problem with iCloud Drive files as above, Sonoma has been exceptionally stable for me. Very few issues, both on indigo and the general Mac side of things that this server runs for me. So far this has been the most stable upgrade I’ve had in.. probably since Snow Leopard.

Sounds good. Will probably take the plunge.
