Intel isn't going to have enough money to settle the lawsuits that will be pending... I bet there are about 100,000 lawyers worldwide having tort-gasms this morning after reading this.

Unless I missed something, this seems to be specific to Intel x64 CISC chips and doesn't affect 32bit Intel processors, any AMD processors, or the ARM chips in most mobile phones. Am I correct?

I appreciate that High Sierra 10.13.2 already has most(?) of the fix, with more coming in 10.13.3; but yeh I wonder how far back they're release patches for this.

If this is for arm too it will effect any camera , build in devices, raspberry pi, may be nest, android devices, tablets, etcetc. And many of these things get rarely updated by the vendors. This is the big one .. launch of skynet and then Arnold comes back

Re: I hope this is fake news

I've posted an update on this on the High Sierra topic. Bottom line, you don't have to be running High Sierra to get (at least) the Meltdown patch as it's been applied to High Sierra, Sierra, and El Capitan.

Yep and any lawsuits will not help anyone, not even lawyers

I think lawsuits have their place and if this were a malicious and known exploit that was covered up or ignored by the manufacturer and causes actual harm to someone (more than losing their baby pictures) then that is what lawsuits are for. That being said, you are correct, we are so litigious that it's laughable - everything is a quick buck to make now - like the guy suing apple for 999 BILLION dollars over the battery issue.
