Re: Happy New Year

Well, this time last year I was suffering with SmartThings. 2017 has at least one bright spot in it in comparison!

SmartThings refugee, so happy to be on Indigo. Monterey on a base M1 Mini w/Harmony Hub, Hue, DomoPad, Dynamic URL, Device Extensions, HomeKitLink, Grafana, Plex, uniFAP, Fantastic Weather, Nanoleaf, LED Simple Effects, Bond Home, Camect.

I've pent my whole HA life on Indigo. I have some friends asking questions about SmartThings. Can you tell me what you weren't able to do with ST that Indigo is doing better?

In a word...EVERYTHING.

As a former SmartThings user also, I'll put in my two cents. Unlike Indigo which is totally local, everything in SmartThings is cloud-based and must go through their cloud servers which are HORRIBLY UNRELIABLE. There are plenty of posts on the ST forums about this. I could list other complaints, but that one is the bottom line. I believe the only reason ST users are not on Indigo is because they don't know about it, or they aren't Mac users. I consider Indigo a professional system and ST as an amateur's toy which will generate hours and hours of frustration. Indigo just works...period! I wish I would have found it sooner!!!

For your 2017 supply cache. Anyone got any cool emergency shelter oriented automations?

Re: Happy New Year

Perhaps I should build a shelter in the back garden.. I seem to recall govt helpsheets from the 80s say to mount a door at a 40° angle to deflect the radiation... to be sure perhaps I'll use 2 doors.
