Success: Controlling Yamaha Receiver via Cynical Network

Since the available Yamaha plugin won't control my RX-A3060 and therefore probably won't control a lot of other newer models, I thought you guys might be interested in this approach.

By using the YNCA commands found in the docs linked below, you can use Cynical Network's TCP Out events to send those commands and it's working perfectly with my receiver.

Getting status updates is a little trickier and still a work in progress for me, but it can be done.

I gave up trying to use the Yamaha Plugins with my RXV575 receiver, and have gone down the same route as yourself. As you say parsing the replies is tricky but a website such as http://www.regexr.com can be helpful when trying to build the expressions required.

It's too bad we can't dump a config to text, so we can share/collaborate on it. I have a yamaha avr that I couldn't use the plugin for either.
