Is my Fan or FanLinc Dead?

I just had my first failure issue with a ceiling fan, and wanted to pass this info on to you so to better diagnose a problem should you have one.

SYMPTOM:
Fan works as expected OFF, LOW, MED & Light
Fan HIGH makes bad [unsafe] noise & spins slower than LOW

My fans are MinkaAire w/ a FanLinc, but this probably applies to any fan & any remote.

SOLUTION:
After speaking with MinkaAire support they stated that the problem is either the remote module or the fan's capacitor. To test the capacitor, bypass the remote module and direct wire the fan to power Black/Black, White/White... When the circuit power is restored the fan should spin on HIGH, which mine did. So that told me the problem was the remote.

Installed a new FanLinc and all is good
