I thought perhaps someone else might enjoy it too. I really love the aesthetic of this system!

Wow. Talk about being before its time. That is seriously impressive for 1985 tech.

Wow! That is amazing! It's more functional that my system right now! Whoever built that must've spent a fortune on it!

Re: Post Pics of Your Control Pages HERE!

I'm looking for some advice on control page look and feel.. Having researched lots of different designs and apps for ideas and a lot of aborted design attempts I've finally been able to put together something I'm happy with (still a rough design but I know what I need to do to finalise it)... With the exception of AV control which I've been trying and retrying for the last week weeks but to no avail and it now looks worse than it ever did.. I'm hoping someone here can give me a few ideas on ways to make it look better :)

@durosity:

I think that the pages look great. Sure, a thing or two here and there may need to be tweaked for alignment, but overall I think that these pages look quite good.

Re: Post Pics of Your Control Pages HERE!

Thanks.. Yeah I'm mostly happy with the layout of the main page, it's just the av controls just don't work for me.. Ideally I'd like them contained within the same kind of boxes that the lounge devices are in but I just can't make the design work and flow well with the rest of my UI. im also having the same issue with PTZ control of cameras, but it's not such a big issue.

Re: Post Pics of Your Control Pages HERE!

Here're mine, for security reasons cam pages aren't shown (we had one burglary and one try already); weather maps aren't shown for copyright reasons.

Virtual devices, scenes and events are blue, switchable devices red, dimmable devices amber/yellow and shutter switches violet. All these devices will light up green when on/activated.

Alarm like status buttons are green when not activated and light up red while activated.

Except the AV pages there's direct access to video surveillance and weather information. From the AV action pages there's direct access to the AV devices.

Cheers,
Ben

Wow, impressive. Out of interest how did you make the blurred effect backgrounds on the weather pages? Can it be done via transparencies or is it some other kind of fancy trick?

Thanks for compliment.

The grafx are made with FireWorks CS4. Take a copy of the part were you want the effect, make it a bitmap and use filter gaussian blurr. The tinted glass effect was made by using filter inner glow with color black and 30% transparency. Then put that bitmap back (at the same location) of the original image. That's all.

Don't know if there's another way with other programs or newer versions of FW or PS, but that's how I've made it.

Cheers,
Ben

Nice to see a Fireworks user. I was one of the developers of Fireworks v1.0 and eventually lead the engineering side of the development back in my corporate days.

I'm using FW since v1.0 :D Still my preferred program for web related grafx. So from now on I've to think of you not only when Indigo switches something in the house...

Re: Post Pics of Your Control Pages HERE!

I have found this forum as great source for ideas on making my CP's and thank all the posters for sharing there set up.
One thing I have noticed is that all the pages seem to be setup to fit nicely on the display with each CP for different uses
such as one for first floor lights, one for security one for audio ect. Than navigation buttons for going to all the different CP.

My main CP I use all the time is set up with a screen width of 1024 and fits nicely on my iPad and iMac, but I have the length
set to 5000. My iMac has a trackpad so navigating the CP from top to bottom is just a quick flick of the finger to get to the area
I want to control, rather than navigating between multiple CP.

So I was just wondering is there some reason I should not do this. Will this be using more system resources on the server?
