I found a way to easily monitor the level of the propane in my propane tank. I purchased a Tank Utility. https://www.tankutility.com/ All that's need now is a PlugIn.

It's got an API, should be pretty easy. I won't be able to get one until we move into the new house in Jan/Feb. If no one else has written a plugin by then I will.

One downside to their system is that the API retrieves data from their server, not directly from the device. So if your internet connection is down, it won't work.

My sensor is arriving tomorrow. Should have a plugin by the weekend. I already wrote most of it, but can't do any testing until I get the sensor installed and account created.

Ok, so I saw this thread and thought "TANK PLUGIN!?!?!", I've been trying to come up with ways to detect raccoons in my yard and hit them with a blast of water using Indigo as the base and one of the things I came up with is this remote control tank that I've thought of modifying for this very purpose. I was very excited and while I'm a bit let down that this is for propane it's still pretty cool :).

Racoons? Not many around here. But this guy was in the canal right off our dock yesterday:

Yea, that would be a good raccoon deterrent! One thing Colorado has lots of is raccoons and skunks. In fact I know several people that have moved from Colorado because they couldn't tolerate the skunk population. I had one die under my deck a couple of years ago, oh boy was that bad, weeks of bad smells and I finally ripped up my not-unsubstantially-massive deck and am STILL transforming it into a large outdoor living space with no place for critters to nest.
