Any control available for Blu-Ray players?

Forum rules

Questions about hardware that can be controlled by Indigo (but not through the interfaces and plugins listed). If Indigo doesn't support some bit of hardware you're interested in, and you don't find a 3rd Party Plugin for it, add it to this forum. Be sure to include links to as much information as you can find about it.

Note: adding it here does not mean we're going to add it - in fact it's possible one of our 3rd party developers may decide to write a plugin for it. We add hardware/features based on a lot of different factors beyond just having a request for it.

Any control available for Blu-Ray players?

It's time for me to replace my Blu-Ray player and I'd really love to choose one with the best chance of being IP controllable by Indigo. I've looked through the plugins and don't see anything. Are there no plugins available for IP control of these ubiquitous devices? If not, any plans for such?

Thanks!

Re: Any control available for Blu-Ray players?

I have an Oppo unit which I am really happy with (BDP-83 which is old now). I don't control it over IP, but I understand that it's possible. Don't know of a plugin for the Oppo's, but there has been a little bit of chatter...

Thx for the reply, Dave. Been looking at the Oppos. I remember when they first started showing up and getting a great rep at a modest price. I'll probably go with a more mainstream price point for this unit, though. Don't wanna tie up the bucks for a primo Blu-Ray player while I'm waiting to see how 4K is gonna shake out.

Totally understand that. In my opinion, Oppos are cheap when you consider the output, but they ain't cheap when you consider the price. :D

Perfectly put, sir. I don't mind paying for the good stuff, as long as I'm reasonably sure I'll get a number of years out of it before I start looking at it and thinking, "Oh man, I just HAVE to upgrade that!"
