SMTP connection does not close connection

I guess this for M&J
in my "/usr/sbin/lsof -i tcp" i have 100++ of these

I have an issue with mail, password rejected although it is correct (have to do an online web session to reenable). When this is the case I get the hanging closed connections

not a serious issue, but something does not close its socket . Adding 1 every 10 minutes

So it sounds like the hanging connections only occur when there is the authentication failure?

Have you tried using the BetterEmail plugin instead of Indigo's built-in SMTP client? Indigo's built-in SMTP and POP clients are from a legacy library we are using, but eventually we will be transitioning to using python like the BetterEmail plugin.
