[SOLVED]Cannot connect the Client

I am running the latest version on a networked Mac Mini running Mavericks. I cannot seem to get any of my other Macs to connect using the Indigo client. I have the Preferences set to allow remote access. It used to work in a prior version.

Not sure what to do next.

Re: Cannot connect the Client

A couple of things:

  • Make sure you have the right client on all of your Macs that are trying to connect to the server
  • Make sure the firewall on your server Mac is allowing the IndigoServer (/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 6/IndigoServer.app) to accept incoming connections
  • What exactly are the errors the clients are giving you when you specify the host IP and port (1176)?

Re: Cannot connect the Client

All Macs are running OS 10.9.2.

All Macs have Indigo 6.0.11 installed.

The Mini is running the server version

The Mini's firewall is set to allow incoming connections on Indigo 6.

All Macs can see the Mini and can reach it through its Screen Sharing or File Sharing.

However, the client Macs receive a message "Failed to connect to Indigo Server. The Indigo Server is either unreachable over the network or is not running." when I start the Indigo client.

Indigo 6 (the Mac client) or IndigoServer? It should be the latter and not the former.

Re: Cannot connect the Client

It is Indigo 6. Is there an IndigoServer that is a different application? I am under the impression that there is one application that can run as the server or a client, depending upon how it is installed and set up.

I have been running the full installation of Indigo on the Mac Mini, but installing only the client on my other Macs.

Re: Cannot connect the Client

Yes, the IndigoServer.app is at the location I mentioned about 2 posts above (/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 6/IndigoServer.app).

Re: Cannot connect the Client

I do not seem to have a "Perceptive Automation" folder in the Application Support folder. Nor is there a folder in Application Support for "Indigo"

Should I uninstall and reinstall?

Are you looking in the correct library? It is the the library in your system root folder not the library under your user id. :)

Re: Cannot connect the Client

Correct, it's the Library folder at the top level of your hard drive, not the one in your user folder.

Re: Cannot connect the Client

I see the IndigoServer app in the Perceptive Automation folder in Application Support in Library. I tried to open it, but nothing happened.

Indigo 6 server is running and the dialog box shows that it is set to allow remote connections.

I think Jay was asking earlier if you had the Indigo Server App enabled in the firewall on the Mac mini?
You should have an entry in the firewall list like like this:

Thanks! That did the trick.

Sorry to be so dense.
