Connection issue with public wifi

I'm spending a lot of time in hospitals these days and they provide a public wifi service.

Saddly, it does not seem to work at all with Indigo Touch, and I wonder why ?

When I launch Indigo Touch, I see the purple status bar at the bottom, indicating "Connecting..."
After less then a second the status bar reports "Failed to connect: The network connection was lost."
This cycles on and on, and Indigo Touch is unusable.

Other apps do not have any problems at all, I can use safari, mail, even Spyglass to monitor my SecuritySpy feed.
I wonder what is happening, and is there no way to force Indigo Touch to properly connect to my home server ?

I do not have a problem when using 3G, but inside these buildings there is no cellular service.

Any insight is appreciated.

What happens when you go to your reflector in Safari instead of Indigo Touch?

Does it connect at all? It could be they're blocking the port. I had a similar issue at work, changing to port 8080 fixed it for me!

Computer says no.

Re: Connection issue with public wifi

I don't have a reflector subscription, I figured I didn't need it.
But if a relfector would solve my issue I might consider it (no e.t.a. on version 7 with the included reflector service I guess ;-)
Does reflector always use a standard port (80 ?)

It could indeed be the port number. I am connecting on port 8100 currently.
My SecuritySpy is on port 8000, and this works flawless.
I'll switch ports and see if it solves the problem.

Re: Connection issue with public wifi

Reflectors do use the standard HTTP and HTTPS ports, so if the problem is a firewall blocking the other ports then a reflector should work.
