Re: [ANSWERED]Apple Watch Extension

I have not had a watch for 8+ years. If I would put one on it has to be much smaller than the apple watch

Apple Watch - it's always on my wrist, so way more convenient than Apple TV would be for me.

Re: [ANSWERED]Apple Watch Extension

Whilst we're waiting for Indigo to arrive on the watch, DVDDave mentioned in post 30 on this thread, an app called Home Remote.

Home Remote - Home Automation for Milight, LimitlessLED, Wemo, Hue and Internet Connected Devices by Bouncing Ball Games
https://appsto.re/gb/hGjn3.i

I put it on my iPhone and I've found for 9 of my most-used one-way, non-interactive processes in Indigo, I'm using this app far more than Indigo Touch (when at home). I'm adding more when I get to it.

The UI for creating the buttons isn't great, but once it's setup it's so much quicker than popping out of the app, into Indigo, finding the right control page, then back to what I was doing.

I'd like to see this functionality in Indigo Touch at the same time as the Watch (as basically it's how the watch is going to run I'd expect).

Note I'm using it to call Indigo via restful API so it's not moving away from Indigo.

Re: [ANSWERED]Apple Watch Extension

That looks pretty cool! Perhaps you could post a basic guide on setup?

Perhaps you could read the thread around post 30... :-)

However, to simplify into one place:

After installing, go to the Settings App > Home Control and set the default URL to:

Code: Select all
http://user:pass@192.168.x.y/devices/NAME?toggle=1&_method=put

or

http://user:pass@192.168.x.y:8176/actions/NAME?_method=execute

(depending whether your primary use case will be actions or devices)
where user, pass and 192.168.x.y are your respective details.

Leave NAME as a placeholder.

Now launch the Home Remote app, and 'Add Action' > URL.

In the pre-populated URL, change the NAME placeholder to the name of the device or action group. If the device/group has spaces in it, you should INCLUDE them here, unlike normal URLs - the software encodes the spaces itself.

Refer to the Restful API for valid URL commands.

When you've set the URL, hit 'Add action' at the bottom.

It appears in the list; hit the "..." alongside it, then the square grid of 16 dots. This lets you set the colour and whether it shows up in the Today screen (ie the screenshot above) and on Watch.

To re-order them, hit the pencil, then drag-drop in regular iOS fashion.

Et voila.

Peter

Re: [ANSWERED]Apple Watch Extension

So this is sending the password in clear text, and exposing the indigo server?

That's too much effort. Home automation is all about being lazy. Watch the video in my signature for a documentary on my life.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the summary of how to get this to work. :)

I am not having much success at the moment - probably missing something somewhere. :?
I have set-up the URL as described for an action.
From iTouch I can invoke the action which just writes a message to the log.

When I press the button on Home Remote to invoke the action - nothing happens :(

I note in the Restful API docs it says for the URL to specify the port 8176 i.e. :
Code: Select all
http://127.0.0.1:8176/actions/party%20scene?_method=execute
Are there any other logs you are aware of which can be checked?

I am quite keen to get this working as the App works on the Apple Watch :)

For this to work I am assuming you have to disable digest authentication, and use basic authentication. With what that implies...

As you like videos, do a search on YouTube for "home remote instructions" and you will find eight videos on how to set it up

Nope, it's using digest auth.
