I checked the log file and the switch did on/off/on/off things before. It looks as if heavy insteon traffic triggers that behavior.
An additional benefit of the tool! Found a broken switch that could have killed my poolPump prematurely.

firmware 0x41. seems to be ok, no broadcasts what so ever in some weeks.
With firmware x3a it sends broad casts when the relay inside is active.
This one is a NC relay, it only sends broad casts when the relay is the in OFF position, i.e. current has to run through the relay to keep it OFF.
When I run the survey tool, the switch only generates the broad casts when current runs through the relay to keep it open, NO broadcast when the relay is in the "ON" position i.e. no current needed to keep it on. This looks like some noise issue when the electronics consumes more power.

Received INSTEON "poolPump2" off (button 2) ---- the device is physically actually still on
It stays on, even when the next "poolPump2" on(button 2) is received some minutes later.
