conditional python scripting

To manage my HVAC id like to use conditional scripts to check if states and variables are above or in a specific state.

So first thing is to check if Nest thermostat target temperature is greater than ambient tempature
But i just dont get how to script this in python. especially regarding the different subparts of a device.

can anyone give me pointers?

Re: conditional python scripting

Start with the scripting tutorial - you'll want to look at whatever state/property the thermostat uses to present temperature. If it's a standard Indigo Thermostat type, then the temperatures property will contain a list of temps (some thermostats have multiple sensors, thus the list).

The tutorial also covers variables as well so it should be a good start.
